About our concrete contractor team in Tiburon

Here's who I am, how we work, and what happens after you call about your driveway, patio or wall.

How I got started pouring concrete in Tiburon

I taught myself concrete on small jobs around my own place, pouring and fixing things until I understood why some slabs stay flat and others crack. Then I learned the rest working next to people who'd been at it for years, and in 2020 I started Sterling Stone Tiburon Concrete here in Tiburon.

Six years on, I still come out to look at every job myself. Most of our calls come from homeowners around Tiburon and Marin planning a driveway, patio, wall, steps or foundation work. The first thing I usually ask is how you'll use the space, because a patio for a grill and a driveway for a truck need different things underneath.

What we're best known for is taking the time to explain what we're doing, and why, before anything gets poured. Concrete doesn't give you a second try once it sets, so I'd rather answer a question twice before the pour than have you wondering about it later.

What you can count on from us

Here's what working with us looks like from your side of the job. We're fully licensed and insured, and our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee.

Same person, start to finish

The person who walks your job and writes the estimate is me, and I'm on site with our crew while the work gets done. You won't be passed between a salesperson and a crew who've never heard your plans, so ask as many questions as you like along the way.

Ground and water before finishes

We get the subgrade, the packed soil the slab sits on, and the drainage right before we talk about color or texture. A base that's only raked level settles with the dirt, and a slab that falls toward the house sends water where you don't want it, so if a budget needs trimming, I'd trim the finish, not the base.

A plain, written estimate

Your estimate is written in plain words and lists what's included, from digging out and the base to the control joints, the cuts that tell cracks where to go. That makes it easy to line up fairly against other bids and spot one that skipped the work underneath.

What happens after you call us

Every job runs through the same four steps, whether it's a short walkway or foundation work. Here's what each one looks like from your end, and who you'll be dealing with.

  1. 1

Call or send us a message

Call (415) 429-4397 or use our contact form to tell us what you're planning, whether it's a new driveway, a patio, steps or a wall. We reply to calls and messages within one business day.

  2. 2

    Walk the job with me

I come out, measure, check where the water runs and ask how you'll use the space. Then you get a free written estimate that spells out what's included, with no pressure and no obligation.

  3. 3

    Sort out permits, then pour

We find out what your city or county asks for and help with the paperwork, and we wait for any permit to be in hand before we start. Then our crew digs out, packs the base and pours, with me on site.

  4. 4

    Walk through the finished work

Fresh concrete needs time to cure, the wait while it hardens and gains strength, before you walk or drive on it. We clean up, walk the finished job with you and go over when it's ready to use.
